An ex-hotel employee has pleaded with people not to eat free hotel breakfasts.

Brandi Augustus took to TikTok to list the reasons why customers should avoid the food.

She claimed: “I don’t know how to say this without being attacked by people in the industry, if your hotel serves the hot continental breakfast, eggs, waffles stuff like that, don’t eat that s***.

“I worked in hotels doing front desk and night audits for almost 15 years.

“They don’t give a s*** about that breakfast, and when I say they I’m talking about corporate, I’m talking about management.”

She also claimed that she was only allowed to use one paper towel to clean the entire area all night, and no sponges or wipes.

Speaking about the waffle maker where she worked, Augustus argued it was ‘rarely clean’ and that old batter was used until it began to smell.

She commented: “That waffle batter gets reused until it starts to smell like beer.”

Offering advice, the ex-hospitality worker urged people to make sure the hotel they are staying at ’employs a proper chef and has a hygienic kitchen’ if they want to eat hotel breakfasts.

The video has been watched almost 500,000 times, and several people took to the comments to say they had experienced similar things.

One viewer wrote: “She’s telling the truth! Stick to pre-packaged foods, also check the room before you bring luggage in.”

“I have worked in the food industry for over 12 years. Mostly worked as a morning hotel chef or manager. The buffet eggs are a no-go,” added another.

However, a third claimed it wasn’t the case at the hotel she worked at, writing: “Everything we made was fresh and same day.”
