An exhausted couple decided to write an apologetic note to their neighbours ahead of sleep training their baby, to warn them of what was to come. The move has been praised on social media by fellow parents.
A mum decided to write a letter to her neighbours to warn them she was planning on sleep training her baby and it could be a little noisier than usual, in the hope they’d be more understanding.
At each of their neighbours’ doors, the couple left a note which explained that they would be sleep training their baby and were attempting the “cry-it-out” method.
The “tired and sorry” mum apologised in advance through the letter for what was about to come and said that it was likely they may hear more crying than usual. She then joked that if they ever needed to pop by for some milk, sugar, eggs, or tequila she’d be happy to help.
The letter read: “Apartment 207 here. I regret to inform you that we have begun sleep training our son.
“After many sleepless nights thanks to the dreaded 4-month sleep regression, we have decided it is time to start the cry-it-out method.
“If you hear the cries please pray for me and know I am also crying and going insane.
“I’m very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, let’s hope it doesn’t last long.”

The mum continued by explaining that the plan was going to be carried out for at least four days and if the couple decided it wasn’t working, they’d give it a break for a week or two and then try again.
They added: “Please know I am not neglecting him, but I will let him try to self-soothe for 45-60 minutes at a time during this period.
“I will be in the room every 5-10 minutes to reassure him he is not alone and is okay.
“If you start to feel hatred towards us just give us a friendly knock on the door and I will bring you a shot of tequila to mend our neighbor-ship.
“It’s cheap tequila but it will calm your nerves, it’s been tested and proven to work by yours truly.
“Any-how keep us in your prayers and turn the TV volume up.
“If you need milk, sugar, or eggs we have some. And tequila too just swing by.”
The letter was then signed off by “tired and sorry neighbors”.
Once the letter was sent out, one of the neighbours then took to Twitter to share the story. The person captioned the post: “Neighbors left this on the door… I’m gonna bake them some cookies.”

The couple has since been praised for being kindhearted enough to write a letter to explain the situation.
One wrote: “We need more neighbors like them in the world.”
Another added: “With a note like that I would not care what they do.”
While a third said: “This is how you neighbor… well played…”
In similar news, a grandad received a letter from his neighbours in which they cruelly called him a “laughing joke” due to his garden decorations.
