Actress Defends Filming Real-Life S** Scenes In ‘Most Explicit Movie Ever’
An actress has defended filming real-life s** scenes in the ‘most explicit movie ever.’
Margo Stilley has spoken out about her decision to take on the controversial role, which remains her most debated work.
The movie in question gained notoriety for its explicit, non-simulated s** scenes, including one in which the male lead is shown e***ulating on screen.

Released in 2004, the title tells the story of a British scientist, played by Kieran O’Brien, and his intense, s**ually charged relationship with an American exchange student, portrayed by Stilley.
Its reception was far from positive, receiving harsh criticism from both audiences and critics and a low 24 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yet, Stilley stands by her decision to star in the controversial film.
In an interview with the Irish Examiner in 2008, she recalled the intense criticism she faced.
The actress said: “People were really angry,” and claimed people even resorted to calling her derogatory names such as ‘a w***e’ and a ‘s**t’ during press conferences.
She recounted being asked how she could agree to do such scenes, to which she responded: “I didn’t invent s**! There’s a huge s** industry out there that’s worth billions.”

Addressing concerns about whether director Michael Winterbottom exploited her as a first-time actress, Stilley emphasized her role in shaping the character.
“People ask me if I felt that [director] Michael Winterbottom took advantage of me because I hadn’t acted before, but they forget that I developed the character,” she explained.
The actress also expressed genuine surprise at the extreme reactions the film provoked, particularly regarding her portrayal.
“I was genuinely shocked by the response to the film – and especially to my role, as I was not at all like my character Lisa,” she noted.
Stilley clarified that the film was not intended to be p***ographic but an exploration of love and intimacy.
The actress also dismissed the idea that the film had negatively impacted her career, commenting: “I don’t get seen only for roles as women who have s** a lot.”

After starring in 9 Songs, one of the most explicit films in mainstream cinema, Stilley appeared in How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, starring alongside Simon Pegg.
She later worked with Cillian Murphy and Sienna Miller in Hippie Hippie Shake.
Before pursuing acting, she worked as a model and relocated to Italy after leaving college.
She later moved to London, where she landed the role in 9 Songs after being connected with the casting team through an Israeli advertisement.
