Netflix viewers have been left on the ‘edge of their seats’ after watching a terrifying disaster movie.

The action-thriller, which is inspired by real events, delivers an adrenaline rush for audiences seeking thrills.

One enthusiastic viewer says: “This had me on the edge of my seat!”

In agreement, another adds: “Yes, watched this last night and yes, it’s a sitting on the edge of your seat kinda movie.”

“Excellent film, really frightening scenes of disaster,” comments a third.

Somebody else jokes: “Entertaining disaster flick that kept my interest (and kept me biting my nails).”

Released in 2023 under the direction of Richard Holm, the film was brought to life with a screenplay co-written by Holm, Robin Sherlock Holm, and Nicola Sinclair.

The movie unfolds in the authentic setting of Kiruna, Sweden – a real city whose name adds an undeniable sense of realism to the unfolding drama.

Here, the story centers on the residents of Kiruna, who must band together to survive following a catastrophic rock burst that threatens to engulf the town.

At the center of the narrative is Frigga, played by Tuva Novotny, the security manager at the Kiruna mine.

Her role becomes increasingly critical as a devastating rock burst triggers the formation of sinkholes, setting off a chain of events that forces her to scramble for an effective evacuation plan.

Alongside Frigga, the film features strong performances from Kardo Razzari as Dabir, Felicia Maxime as Mika, and Peter Franzén as Tage, among others.

Their collective efforts bring a palpable tension to the unfolding crisis – a tension that is both thrilling and nerve-wracking.

While The Abyss draws loose inspiration from a real incident that occurred four years ago – a mining operation in Kiruna that led to an earthquake measuring approximately 4.8 on the Richter Scale – the filmmakers have taken creative liberties to heighten the dramatic stakes.

Its unique blend of true events and amplified disaster elements have made it a must-watch experience for Netflix subscribers in search of a heart-pounding thriller.
