A new horror film shot entirely from a dog’s point of view has been called the ‘most disturbing’ movie fans have seen.

There is nothing better than the anticipation of waiting for the next psychological, fear-inducing movie to drop.

For fans who really love a good scare, sometimes it’s hard to find a horror that makes your palms sweat and shakes you to the core, but critics say this new film will do just that.

The new movie is being praised for its fear factor, unique storytelling, and compelling writing. It’s currently on 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Perhaps what is most interesting about this horror is the perspective – it’s told through the eyes of a dog.

If you are a pup owner, you might often notice your four-legged friend staring or barking at blank spaces, which, at the best of times, is unnerving and sometimes terrifying.

This is what the unique horror film portrays: Todd, a young man, and his loyal dog Indy as they move into an old, abandoned family farm with a reputation for being haunted.

Indy can see and react to supernatural entities that Todd cannot perceive. The audience sees the loyalty of a dog protecting his owner from the dark threats in the house.

Film critic Rafael Motamayor wrote for IndieWire: “What could have easily been a cheap gimmick instead provides the foundation for one of the best horror films so far this year.”

“This feels experimental and exhilarating, coloring within the lines via the tropes we know, but by placing them within a different context, making everything feel unpredictable and terrifying,” Douglas Davidson reviewed for Elements of Madness.

Nightmare on Film Street‘s Jonathan DeHaan said: “Independent moviemaking magic! An ingenious angle for an overworked subgenre, and one that delivers in spades thanks to its adorable lead, and brilliant direction and editing that really sets the story directly in a dog’s world.”

Ben Leonberg’s directorial debut was screened at this year’s SXSW Festival, where the innovative horror received high praise.

Shudder has since acquired the rights to Good Boy, so it will be available to stream through the service via Amazon Prime Video.

Head of Verve Ventures, Amy Beecroft, , who made the deal happen, told Deadline: “Visceral and terrifying, this film switches up the lens through which we view the familiar supernatural thriller setting into an experience unlike anything audiences have seen before.

“Ben absolutely blew us away with his directorial debut!”

A release date for Good Boy (2025) has not yet been announced.
