HBO Boss Responds To Concerns Over J.K. Rowling Being Involved In Harry Potter Reboot
The boss of HBO has responded to concerns over J.K. Rowling being involved in the Harry Potter reboot.
The wizarding series, written by J.K. Rowling, is one of the most successful franchises of all time.
It’s resulted in seven books, eight films, numerous video games and now finally, a TV series.
HBO announced the decision earlier this week, revealing that it will have a brand-new cast.

While many fans will be happy that the series will be ‘authentic’ to the books, others have raised their eyebrows at J.K. Rowling’s involvement as an executive producer.
Some have questioned the author possibly profiting from the show after she’s faced accusations of transphobia.
Others have argued that her involvement will affect the casting choices.
Over on Twitter, one person tweets: “I normally never root for a movie or TV show to fail. Even if I don’t like it. Because I understand how hard everyone worked on it, and I want it to succeed.
“With that said, I hope the Harry Potter reboot fails, and JK Rowling’s net worth plummets.”

Another adds: “Definitely one of the biggest and most blatant cash grabs I’ve seen in a while. I feel bad for the new actors as no matter what, they will be heavily criticised.
“Sadly, despite HBO being the only guys I would trust with [it], it’s at least 10 years too soon. Very sad.”
These concerns have now been addressed by Casey Bloys, the CEO of HBO and Max Content.
In a Q&A with the press, the HBO boss says that Rowling’s involvement in the series will mean gaining her ‘insight’.
He explains (via Variety): “[Rowling] will be involved. She’s an executive producer on the show. Her insights are going to be helpful on that.
“The TV show is new and we’re excited about that, but, remember, we’ve been in the ‘Potter’ business for 20 years.
“This is not a new decision for us, we’re very comfortable being in the ‘Potter’ business.”
Bloys goes on to say that the conference is ‘not the forum’ to discuss any possible talent.
“No, I don’t think this is the forum,” he comments.
“That’s a very online conversation, very nuanced and complicated and not something we’re going to get into.”
He adds: “Our priority is what’s on the screen…Obviously, the Harry Potter story is incredibly affirmative and positive and about love and self-acceptance.
“That’s our priority – what’s on screen.”

Although many people have taken to social media and said there’s no need for a Harry Potter reboot, other fans have said otherwise.
One person comments: “This series will be Hogwarts Legacy 2.0, I can’t wait.”
Another says: “It’s official: The Harry Potter reboot is happening. I can’t wait to watch it.”
“Yes!!!! Finally!!! I love the movies, but they are not good adaptations of the books,” somebody else pens.
“Characters that I love like Snape, Ginny and the Weasley twins can finally shine. These four are amazing in the books but have almost no screen time in the movies.”
