Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story viewers are recommending another Netflix true crime series that boasts a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

Mindhunter, which has a 97% rating on the review-aggregation website, is about FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Trench (Holt McCallany).

It follows the founding of the Behavioral Science Unit in the late 1970s and the beginning of criminal profiling.

The show was produced by actress Charlize Theron and director David Fincher, who is known for directing crime films like Seven, Zodiac, and Gone Girl.

Even though the show was a fictionalised drama, it was based on true events as both Ford and Trench were real-life FBI agents and the serial killers that they pursued existed in real life too.

Their targets included Charles Manson, Ed Kemper, and Wayne Williams.

Despite coming out a few years ago, the show still has a solid fanbase which has been growing after the recent success of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

The limited series is currently Number 1 on Netflix’s Top 10 TV programmes.

“Amazing series, there has been chatter over the last couple of months so it’s possible for a Season 3,” shared someone else.

A fifth fan expressed: “If you liked Dahmer – watch Mindhunter! Cannot recommend it enough. Only two seasons but will leave you wanting more and more views means more chance of getting a third season.”

The show first premiered on Netflix in 2017 and ran for two seasons before being cancelled in 2020, despite its positive reviews, with season 2 scoring an impressive 99% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Fincher has previously stated that the show got cancelled as it was not making enough money to justify a third season.

While he promoting his film Mank, he told Variety in 2020: “I don’t know if it makes sense to continue.

“It was an expensive show. It had a very passionate audience, but we never got the numbers that justified the cost.”

Fincher then mentioned how he needed a hiatus away from Mindhunter and believes his break from the show could ignite a passion for a third season, giving fans a glimmer of hope.

He continued: “At some point, I’d love to revisit it.

“The hope was to get all the way up to the late ’90s, early 2000s, hopefully, get all the way up to people knocking on the door at Dennis Rader’s (another real-life serial killer) house.”

Seasons 1 & 2 of Mindhunter are available on Netflix. Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is also streaming on the platform.
