Fans are calling the highest-rated horror movie of 2024 ‘absolutely perfect.’

Recent months have seen saw no shortage of terrifying horror movies, with Threads, Annihilation, and The Hunt dominating streaming services.

But now, there’s a new film hitting headlines.

It’s one of the highest-rated horror flicks of the past year – and fans are branding it ‘absolutely perfect.’

One fan pens: “I couldn’t believe how tense I felt throughout the entire movie. The mix of live TV chaos and supernatural horror was genius!”

“The 70s aesthetic was spot-on. It felt like I was watching a real late-night show from that era, but with a terrifying twist,” adds a second.

“I came for the scares, but I didn’t expect to feel so much for Jack’s character. The movie was as much a psychological drama as it was a horror,” offers a third.

Critics seem to agree with Wendy Ide writing for the Guardian: “Smart, cynical and at times devilishly funny, the film delivers a crackle of disruptive static to the demonic possession genre.”

The movie also boasts an impressive 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7/10 rating on IMDb.

The film is directed by Cameron Cairnes and Colin Cairnes and stars David Dastmalchian, Ingrid Torelli, and Fayssal Bazzi.

Dastmalchian, known for his roles in The Dark Knight and Ant-Man, brings his signature intensity to the role of Jack Delroy, a struggling late-night talk show host in 1977 who hosts a live Halloween special that spirals into supernatural chaos.

Late Night with the Devil follows Jack’s desperate attempt to save his career with a gimmicky episode featuring a parapsychologist, a skeptic, and a supposedly possessed girl, but things quickly take a turn for the terrifying.

Inspired by the directors’ fascination with 1970s television and the cultural obsession with the paranormal during that era, the film captures the era’s mix of skepticism and intrigue.

Interestingly, much of the film’s tension was heightened by the decision to shoot key sequences in a live television format, adding authenticity and unpredictability to the final product.
