Netflix Fans Hooked On Steamy New Drama They’re Bingeing In One Night
Netflix subscribers have found a new obsession, with viewers admitting they’re staying up late to binge-watch an addictive steamy drama in a single sitting.
The series has quietly become one of the streaming giant’s biggest success stories, drawing in audiences with its mix of romance, family feuds, mystery, and picturesque countryside settings.
Now, following the release of its second season, the show has shot straight back to the top of Netflix’s charts, proving its popularity hasn’t slowed down.
Viewers say they couldn’t stop watching
Fans have flooded social media with glowing reviews, with many revealing they raced through every episode in just one day.
One viewer wrote: “LOVED this show! Best of the year no doubt!!”
Another praised the emotional storytelling, saying: “This stands out as a genuinely heartfelt and well-written addition to Netflix’s lineup of dramas. The show’s strength lies in its authentic portrayal of small-town life, capturing the spirit and struggles of ranching families with sincerity and depth.”
Others highlighted its mix of romance and suspense.
“Romance, mystery, secrets, handsome cowboys, beautiful scenery, great chemistry, lots to love here! I am impressed!” one fan shared.
Another added: “Great show so far! I loved Yellowstone, and I know some people think, ‘Well, we already have Yellowstone, did we need another show like it?’ My answer is yes!”
One particularly enthusiastic viewer admitted: “Wow!!! For me to finish all 10 episodes in a day is saying something. Love how this series has more than one ‘basic’ storyline. I cannot wait for season 2!!!”
With the arrival of the latest episodes, many fans are once again saying they’re bingeing the series over a single weekend.
Critics are more divided than audiences
While audiences have embraced the romantic Western, critics haven’t been quite as enthusiastic.
Reviewing the first season for Variety, Aramide Tinubu described it as: “Beautifully shot and boasting a stunning cast, it’s a sexy, predictable, breezy viewing experience that delivers on its promise.”
The divide between critics and viewers has continued into the second season.
According to Forbes, Season 2 has debuted at number one on Netflix despite receiving a 40% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, down slightly from the first season’s 45%.
However, viewers have been much kinder to the series, with Season 1 earning a 72% audience score, demonstrating that fans continue to connect with the show’s blend of romance, drama and family rivalries.
Much of that appeal comes from its cast, led by Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, alongside Jack Schumacher, Lizzy Greene, Marianly Tejada and James Brolin.
The series was created by April Blair, who also co-wrote the Selena Gomez film Monte Carlo, and is adapted from Jodi Thomas’ bestselling book series.

Season 3 already looks promising
Following the impressive launch of Season 2, attention has quickly turned to the future.
Although Netflix has not officially announced a third season, industry observers believe renewal is likely after the show’s latest success.
Forbes reported that the second season immediately climbed to the number one spot on Netflix, replacing the comedy film The Hawk at the top of the streaming rankings.
The publication also noted that the series is considered a relatively low-cost production compared to many Netflix originals, making it an attractive candidate for renewal.
Reports suggest a writers’ room has already begun developing ideas for a potential third season, even though Netflix has yet to make an official announcement.
The first season was renewed approximately two months after its debut, so fans are hopeful another announcement could arrive in the coming weeks if Season 2 continues performing strongly.
Many viewers have already compared the show’s longevity potential to Netflix hits such as Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias, both of which have enjoyed multiple seasons thanks to loyal audiences.
The show everyone is talking about
Based on Jodi Thomas’ novels, the romantic Western follows three powerful ranching families whose lives become intertwined through love, long-held secrets and fierce rivalries in a small Texas town.
Netflix’s official synopsis reads: “Passion runs deep in a small Texas town, as three ranching dynasties fight for their land, their legacies and the people they love.”
Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum about joining the project, Minka Kelly explained what attracted her to the role.
“I wanted to do something that felt big and escapist and had the romance, but also had the drama, and the mystery wrapped up in one package.
“Old Westerns did have a romance and drama to them, so it leans into a more bygone era Western.”
With two seasons now available, a devoted fanbase, and strong viewing figures pushing it to the top of Netflix’s rankings once again, Ransom Canyon continues to prove itself as one of the platform’s most binge-worthy romantic dramas, even if critics remain divided on its appeal.
