Netflix Viewers ‘Hooked’ On Show Calling It ‘Best Series’ They’ve Watched All Year
Netflix fans are ‘hooked’ on a gripping new drama and many are already calling it the ‘best series’ they’ve seen all year.
The streaming giant is renowned for constantly refreshing its catalogue and delivering shows that quickly dominate group chats and social media timelines. Its latest crime offering appears to have done exactly that, drawing viewers in almost instantly.
One fan raved: “Even just 10 seconds in I loved this series.”
Another declared: “This Netflix crime drama is a must-see. Perfection!”
“The best series I’ve watched this year,” echoed a third.
And someone else simply enthused: “I’m hooked!”

Critics are just as impressed
It’s not just audiences who are captivated – critics have also shared glowing reactions.
Writing for the Evening Standard, Alistair McKay said: “It feels, at times, like early Tarantino, with dodgy coppers and incompetent criminals.”
Camilla Long of The Times described it as ‘a clever little piece of programming,’ praising its tight storytelling and sharp character work.
Meanwhile, Brian Donaldson wrote for The List: “The show’s secret is unveiled at the end of a fine opening episode in which three seemingly disparate stories merge and flow forward in one direction.”
The Sky series currently holds a solid 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a respectable 7.5/10 score on IMDb – further proof that strong reviews back up the buzz.

Inspired by a Norwegian hit
The drama is based on the 2017 Norwegian series Valkyrien, which cleverly blended medical tension with gritty crime storytelling. The original show was praised for its dark atmosphere and moral complexity- qualities that have clearly carried over into this adaptation.
Viewers have even drawn flattering comparisons to AMC’s Breaking Bad, thanks to its exploration of desperation, secrecy and the dangerous consequences of crossing ethical lines.
The gripping plot
Created by Mark O’Rowe, best known for the film Boy A, the series stars Mark Strong as a brilliant but morally compromised surgeon. He is joined by Daniel Mays and Carice van Houten in pivotal roles that deepen the show’s emotional and criminal undercurrents.
The story centres on a surgeon who establishes an illegal underground clinic in a frantic attempt to save his dying wife, Beth, who is suffering from a fatal degenerative disease. Driven by love but blinded by desperation, he begins operating outside the boundaries of the law.
To fund the secret clinic, he treats criminals and other desperate individuals who cannot – or dare not – seek help from legitimate hospitals. As the cases grow more dangerous and morally complex, the line between saviour and accomplice becomes increasingly blurred.

What’s next
There are currently two seasons available to stream, both packed with tension, moral dilemmas and escalating stakes. While the show has not yet been officially renewed for a third season, the finale was intentionally left open-ended.
In an interview with Collider, Strong revealed that the cliffhanger ending was very much by design.
“We’ve written a couple of episodes and have a treatment ready for the third season, should we be lucky enough to get to make it, so we were very conscious that we wanted to have a big cliffhanger, which we do,” he explained.
“What we choose to do leaves the opportunity for where we go next completely open. It shows you that Daniel hasn’t learned anything because, once again, he’s lying to people again and leaving people with emotional trauma to save his own skin.”
With a morally tangled lead character, mounting consequences and the promise of more drama to come, it’s little wonder viewers are binge-watching and begging for another instalment of Temple.
