Netflix Thriller Is So Terrifying People Are Having Night Terrors And Can’t Sleep
A new Netflix crime thriller is so terrifying that it’s causing people to have nightmares – and it’s quickly climbing the charts.
Every once in a while, the streaming platform graces our screens with a brand-new crime drama, much to the excitement of thrillseekers everywhere.
This gripping TV show follows a policeman on a mission to hunt down a copycat of his notorious serial killer mother.
Already, we’re locked in.
It drew in an impressive 1.3 million viewers in its first week, and the reviews speak for themselves.
One viewer said: “I am so into this show! I have been waiting all week.
“A part of me is a little frightened of what kind of nightmares this show is going to inspire and ruin my weekend restorative sleep, but eh… what the heck.
“Sacrifices must be made!”
As another wrote: “Absolutely, I should not be watching this show (because of night terrors), but I am so hooked. The sacrifices we make.”
The official synopsis reads: “To stop a copycat criminal, a cop must work with the serial killer behind the original murders – his mother, whom he’s spent his life trying to forget.”
The drama, titled Queen Mantis, is Korean, and currently sits in the top ten most-watched non-English shows on Netflix.
Actress Ko Hyun-jung stars as the original killer, with Jang Dong-yoon as her son.
And it seems that viewers simply can’t get enough.
One commented: “10/10 for episode 3. Tremendous acting from both mother and son.”
In a recent cast interview, Jang revealed that he was completely star-struck to work with Ko, a Korean acting legend.
He said: “I was honestly shocked.
“She embodied [the character] so completely that I can’t imagine anyone else playing her.
“The character is so complex, and she nailed every layer – I got chills more than once while we were shooting.”
The star noted: “I fed off that energy and found it easier to lock in while acting.
“Beyond that, she treated me like a true colleague – almost like I was the senior – with so much consideration.
“It made the set feel comfortable, and going to work was pure joy.”
