Netflix’s New Gabby Petito True Crime Doc Just Landed And It’s One Of Its Darkest Yet
Netflix‘s new Gabby Petito true crime documentary has just landed and people are saying it’s one of the darkest yet.
The 22-year-old aspiring travel influencer captured the nation’s attention in 2021 when she disappeared during a cross-country road trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie.
The couple were documenting their ‘van life’ journey on social media, portraying an idyllic adventure that tragically masked underlying tensions.
In September 2021, Petito’s remains were discovered in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park, with authorities determining she had been strangled.
Laundrie, who returned to Florida without her and subsequently went missing, was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, alongside a note confessing to Petito’s murder.
Now, a new true crime doc follows the chilling case of the YouTuber and her fiancé.

Amid news of the documentary’s release, Netflix has been accused of ‘monetizing’ Petito’s murder.
One person wrote: “Man, these tragedies are so quickly turned into a cash grab. Kinda sad, but I’m sure the family agreed and hopefully got some money out of it.”
Another added: “Hope the family is receiving some compensation for Netflix monetizing this tragedy.”
“So many movies already made about them, why do another?” questioned a third.
Meanwhile, those who have watched the documentary are sharing their reactions online.
“This Gabby Petito Netflix doc has me on the verge of tears,” shared one viewer.
A second said: “I’m over here crying my eyes out at this Gabby Petito story.”
“This Gabby Petito doc is heartbreaking,” agreed a third.
Somebody else said: “Watching the new Gabby Petito documentary. I have already cried twice for soooo many reasons.”

Building upon the public’s interest and the broader conversations it ignited, the three-part Netflix documentary series aims to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Petito’s life and untimely death.
It features interviews with Petito’s family and friends, providing personal insights into her life and relationships.
It also showcases text messages and diary entries that shed light on the dynamics between Petito and Laundrie, offering viewers a more intimate understanding of the events leading up to the tragedy.
The doc hopes to humanize the young woman behind the headlines and explore the systemic issues highlighted by her story, including the societal fascination with true crime and the often-overlooked signs of domestic abuse.
