Netflix Fans Hooked On ‘Horrifying’ Sci-Fi Movie They Say Is The ‘Best Ever’
Netflix viewers have been left horrified by a thriller film that has seen them holding their breath in shock.
If you’re looking for something nice to relax with on the streaming platform, you might want to give this thriller a miss.
Viewers have been singing their praises about a slow-burn cult classic which they’ve been watching on Netflix, four years after it was first released.
Sometimes you just want to watch something cosy and cute, or something to make you laugh on a Saturday night.
Other times, you want something which will leave you on the edge of your seat, and this film definitely does that.
The French language film stars Melanie Laurent in the lead role, as she is seen fighting for her life.
Fans have been praising the thriller for the ramped-up tension, saying they were ‘unable to breathe’ while watching it.
Maybe not one for the asthmatics among us.
Described as a psychological thriller, the film begins with a young woman waking up inside a cryogenic tube.
She is left completely alone with only an AI voice to aid her.
Not only is she by herself, but the mysterious woman is also suffering from memory loss and cannot remember anything about how or why she ended up in the tube.
She is left fighting for her life in dire conditions, which viewers have dubbed ‘stressful’ to watch, but have given it rave reviews.
Even more impressively, the film was written by a first-time scriptwriter, Christie LeBlanc.
Directed by Alexandre Aja, it has earned an impressive 90 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (which is no mean feat). It also earned 6.5/10 on IMDb, with critics calling it ‘excruciating’.
One critic wrote: “Both a claustrophobic survival thriller and an introspective drama about memory, identity, and the ethics of scientific advancement.”
Another agreed, saying viewers will be ‘so caught up in the action they will need to check they are still breathing.’
Viewers are also impressed by the sci-fi movie Oxygen.
“This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in this genre, and to be honest, it will blow your mind if you are interested in sci-fi movies,” raved one fan.
Viewers have been praising the tension of the film, and have been sharing their thoughts on social media, with one calling it a ‘hidden gem.’
They wrote: “What a hidden gem. Very smart, suspense-filled film.”
Another added:” “This film was so tense from start to finish. A must-watch movie.”
“Great sci-fi movie on all levels. Full of twists and turns. Very creative, solid, and well-developed plot. It’s very engaging and enjoyable. Good acting. Well done,” commented a third.
Somebody else agreed: “A well-written film with a brilliant performance of the leading actress, but the best part is its original and well-thought-out plot twist.”
