Son Of Original Snow White Director Slams ‘Insulting’ Disney Remake With Rachel Zegler
David Hand, who is the son of the director behind the original Snow White, has branded the upcoming live-action ‘insulting’.
The remake of the 1937 Disney classic, which is set to be released in 2024, has come under scrutiny in recent weeks.
It’s been reported that the ‘seven dwarves’ will be replaced by ‘mythical creatures’, while it’s also been suggested the film will no longer be a love story.
An interview of Rachel Zegler, who is set to play Snow White, has surfaced in which she says the original film is ‘weird’ and that the Prince is a ‘stalker’.

Chatting to Extra TV on the red carpet, the West Side Story actress comments: “The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird! So we didn’t do that this time.”
Zegler then addresses the prince – who is set to be played by Andrew Burlap – and the movie’s original love story.
She adds: “We have a different approach to what I’m sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie.
“All of Andrew’s scenes could get cut, who knows? It’s Hollywood, baby.”
The son of the director behind the original Snow White – who collaborated with Walt Disney – has since shared his rather scathing views on the upcoming film.
He tells The Telegraph that his father – also named David Hand – and Walt Disney would be disappointed, explaining: “It’s a whole different concept and I just totally disagree with it, and I know my dad and Walt would also very much disagree with it.”
Hand brands the new Snow White a disgrace and claims that Disney is ‘making up new woke things’.

He continues: “Their thoughts are just so radical now. They change the stories, they change the thought process of the characters.
“There’s no respect for what Disney did and what my dad did. I think Walt and he would be turning in their graves.”
