Each episode leaves sprinkles of clues in the direction of the correct conclusion.

Fans can’t get enough

Viewers have been vocal about their love for the show since the very first episode, and the excitement hasn’t let up now that Season 2 has landed.

On social media, one fan wrote: “An amazing series. At the end of every episode, you just wanna see what comes next. It’s been a long time since I watched anything that good.”

“The cast, the music, the writing, everything was perfect. It was compelling from the first episode and carried the same feeling until the very end,” another raved.

A third added: “Absolute masterpiece of a show. The latest episode is up there with the best TV I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see how it ends and what’s in store for season two.”

With Season 2 now airing, early audience reactions on Rotten Tomatoes are mixed but enthusiastic in places. One viewer wrote: “Second season is turning things around. I am very excited to see where it goes!” Another noted: “The second season has now given us more understanding of the overall story arc. While answering some questions it poses new ones. I find it has a good tempo and am interested to see where it all leads.”

Some viewers have been more critical of the new run, with one writing that the show ‘feels hollow’ without a greater focus on James Marsden’s character. It’s the kind of polarizing reaction that only seems to come with a show people are deeply invested in.

What the critics are saying

Season 1 earned strong reviews, and critics have largely returned for Season 2 with plenty to say.

On Season 1, James Dyer reviewed for Empire Magazine: “A moreish if preposterous murder-mystery wrapped up in a swing-for-the-fences premise. If you think you know what to expect going in, think twice.”

JoBlo’s Movie Network‘s Alex Maidy called it ‘one of the most intriguing series of the decade, with a great cast that could kickstart a new wave of brilliant serial dramas. Whatever you do, avoid spoilers.’

Kelcie Mattson wrote for Collider: “As both a sociopolitical thriller and an exhumation of the human condition, and among all the other series vying for audiences’ attention in the new year, it’s well worth your time.”

Season 2 has drawn fresh critical attention. Ed Power of the Daily Telegraph awarded it 4 out of 5 stars, writing that while nothing quite matches the jaw-dropping bunker reveal of the first season, the show ‘remains a cut above’ by the standards of modern prestige TV.

Graeme Guttmann of Screen Rant gave it 6/10, noting that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and that the series “transcends some surface level issues to maintain its status as one of the most thrilling series currently on television.”

What’s it about?

The show is created by Dan Fogelman, the writer and producer known for his works Life ItselfThis Is Us, and Tangled.

The eight-part series stars an impressive cast, including Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Jon Beavers, and Nicole Brydon Bloom.

The thriller’s official synopsis for season one reads: “Set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.”

For were desperately hoping for a second season of Paradise, show creator Fogelman confirmed to Deadline that the next was well underway last year: “Scripts are written. We go into production in four weeks.

“We’re ready to go right now and hoping to get this show back on TV in a normal span of time, hopefully the same time as it came out this past year, as opposed to waiting multiple years. So if we come out in early 2025, hopefully, the next season’s out by early 2026.”

And it seems the world’s wishes have been granted.

Season 2 expands the world considerably. The opening episode, Graceland, follows a new character named Annie, a tour guide in Memphis when the world ends, tracing her survival in the years that follow.

Meanwhile, Sterling K. Brown’s Xavier battles the elements and outside threats as he searches for his wife Teri, and Sinatra wakes to a new reality inside the bunker with a dangerous secret to protect.
