Viewers are calling a disturbing film with a huge twist the ‘scariest movie ever made.

Found-footage horror films often tread familiar ground, with titles like The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity setting the standard for the genre.

However, another movie distinguishes itself by intertwining the unsettling realism of a medical documentary with supernatural terror.

Unlike its predecessors, which primarily focus on external threats, this film delves into the internal horrors of the human mind, presenting a poignant narrative that blurs the lines between psychological deterioration and demonic possession.

Fans of the film have been vocal about its terrifying impact, with reactions flooding social media and horror forums.

One self-proclaimed horror enthusiast called it ‘so, so twisted’ and ‘absolutely bone-fricking-chilling,’ going on to declare it the ‘scariest movie I’ve ever seen.’

Another describes it as ‘horrifying’ and anxiety-inducing in the best way possible, adding that it’s exactly why others should watch it.

A further viewer even compared it to genre staples, claiming it’s ‘one of the best found footage movies ever’ and boldly stating it ‘makes Blair Witch movies look like Disney.’

Clearly, the film has struck a nerve with fans looking for next-level horror.

Critical reception has also been largely positive.

Jorge Loser from Espinof described it as ‘one of the most disturbing horror films of the last decade.’

Joe Lipsett of the Horror Queers Podcast praised it as ‘a smart and clever found footage film that uses the tropes of the subgenre to examine mental illness.’

Additionally, Shannon McGrew from Nightmarish Conjurings noted: “There is something really unsettling about watching someone, especially an elderly individual, descend into a place that they are clearly never going to come out of.”

Directed by Adam Robitel in his feature film debut, The Taking of Deborah Logan stars Jill Larson as Deborah Logan, Anne Ramsay as her daughter Sarah, and Michelle Ang as the documentary filmmaker Mia.

It follows Mia and her crew as they document Deborah’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease, only to uncover a more sinister force at play.

The film masterfully blends elements of psychological, supernatural, and medical horror, offering a fresh take on the found-footage genre.
