Evan Ellingson has tragically died aged 35.

The former child star made his acting debut in 2001 in the TV movie Living in Fear, according to IMDb, before going on to star in a number of high-profile shows such as 24, Bones and CSI: Miami.

Arguably, his biggest role was as Jesse Fitzgerald in the drama My Sister’s Keeper – in which he starred alongside alongside Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin and Alec Baldwin.

The star seemingly dropped out of the spotlight in 2010 and didn’t appear in any more Hollywood features.

Devastatingly, news has broken that Ellingson died on Sunday.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s division (as per TMZ), the Walk The Talk actor was found dead in his bedroom in the city of Fontana, which is about an hour east of Los Angeles County.

Ellingson’s cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but no foul play appears to have been involved.

The former child star’s father, Michael, told TMZ that Ellingson was found at a sober living home.

Ellingson reportedly struggled with drugs in the past but had appeared to be doing better recently – making the news of his passing a shock to his family.

In a 2009 interview, the actor described his upbringing as a child actor as a ‘cool one’.

He said: “I was busy doing the things I love. I had no regrets because I found my passion for acting early on.”

However, Ellingson went on to say that his career meant that he didn’t have much time to spend with time with friends.

“I never had the same (childhood) experience with my friends,” he continued. “I never had more time with them.”

Ellingson was struck by tragedy while filming My Sister’s Keeper in 2008 when his older brother, Austin Ellingson, died from a drug overdose.

The former child star told River’s Edge Ranch: “I would say around 19 is when I got into the heavy drugs.

“My rock bottom was when I was 19. My older brother Austin, he died from a heroin overdose, and when he died… it sent me over the edge.

“Once my brother passed away, I just kind of realised that there was much more to life, and how important people were. I would have given everything that I had to be able to get my brother back, and I knew I couldn’t.”

Ellingson revealed that this difficult time led him ‘on this downward spiral’ and everything ‘got really dark’, adding: “It became more of a deep bondage that I couldn’t get out of.”

Evan Ellingson is survived by his daughter, who was born in 2008.
