“Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families. I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we can live side by side in peace.”

The former Israeli Defense Forces fighter said that her ‘heart breaks’ at the situation, adding: “This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long.”

However, many followers criticised her use of the word ‘neighbours’ and for saying ‘my country is at war’.

One person stated: “Gal Gadot is wrong. Israel is not at ‘war’ with Palestine. Israel is butchering Palestine. Again.”

Another added: “Israeli soldier turned Hollywood’s Wonder Woman multimillionaire Gal Gadot sends meaningless thoughts and prayers as the Israeli apartheid regime she supports ethnically cleanses Palestinians and bombs Gazans in an open-air prison camp.”

However, fans of the star jumped to her defense, insisting she was calling for peace.

“The internet is angry at Gal Gadot because she’s an IDF veteran, which all Israelis are required to serve in for at least two years, and had the audacity to share a heartwarming message for peace in the conflict. A lot of disgusting people in her replies,” one person wrote.

Republican Texas Sen Ted Cruz added: “God bless @galgadot.”
