Michael Owen has responded to his daughter, Gemma, performing a heated dance on Love Island

The football star took to Twitter on the night of June 28 and made his feelings clear about the 19-year-old’s performance in the heart rates racing challenge.

He simply shared an emoji of a person covering up their face.

So far, his post has accumulated more than 7,000 retweets and over 75,000 likes. Plus, hundreds have taken to the comments and shared their thoughts.

“Turn the TV off pal,” one Twitter user jokingly advised.

In agreement, another added: “Order a pizza and turn it off for sure.”

“Haha, a dad’s nightmare. To be fair you should feel very proud,” a third commented. “She’s a very mature 19-year-old and can clearly hold her own.”

A fourth pitched in, writing: “Mans walking up to the villa to drag Gemma out like this.”

This isn’t the first time Owen has reacted to his daughter in the villa.

Previously, the 42-year-old has said he disapproves of his 19-year-old constantly swearing on the dating programme.

He explained: “One thing I wasn’t happy about, watching the show, was the amount of swearing – and from Gemma too. She said the s*** word (Owen spells it out), and I was shouting at the screen there. I don’t allow swearing at home.”

Owen went on to say that despite this, he believes his daughter is ‘mature’ for her age.

He continued: “She’s a mature 19. She’s a bit like me in that regard. I was playing for Liverpool when I was 17, and having to make friends with 23, 24, [and] 25 year olds. The bottom line is, she’s an adult and I have to trust her to make sensible decisions.”
