Gigi Hadid’s billionaire dad, Mohamed Hadid, has insisted his model daughter is entirely ‘self-made’ and ‘never took a single dollar from her parents’.
The 72-year-old real estate developer recently took to Instagram to celebrate his child’s accomplishments.
His post read: “What the 20 things that you did not know about Gigi Hadid? 1. Self Made.. never took a single dollar from her parents.

“2. Started modelling for Baby Guess when she was Khai’s age.
“3. She was an Olympic volleyball contender.”
However, his followers were quick to point out the 26-year-old had an extremely privileged upbringing thanks to her wealthy father and famous model mother, Yolanda Hadid.

One person wrote: “Self-made? Her mom’s a model which is the only reason she got signed, as well as Bella. You’re a rich developer who built mansions all over BH and Bel Air… She was born into money sis.”
Another added: “I don’t understand how Gigi Hadid’s dad is saying she’s self-made. a huge reason why she is so successful is because of her family and their wealth.
“I’m starting to think rich people don’t understand what being self-made means.”
A third chimed in, writing: “Gigi Hadid isn’t self-made because she was born into a specific privilege that enabled her to easily model at the highest level immediately, and at a young age.”

Kylie Jenner, the youngest Keeping Up with the Kardashians sister, was criticised in 2019 when she also claimed she was a ‘self-made billionaire’, due to the fact she was raised by extremely wealthy parents.
But she insisted in an interview with Paper magazine that ‘the self-made thing is true,’ as her parents ‘cut her off at the age of 15’.
She said: “My parents told me I needed to make my own money, it’s time to learn how to save and spend your own money, stuff like that.
“What I’m trying to say is I did have a platform, but none of my money is inherited.”
