Gogglebox star Jenny Newby was forced to miss the show’s BAFTA win on May 8 after being ‘hospitalised for an operation’.
Lee Riley, who she appears on the programme with, told the Daily Star at the event: “Jenny was supposed to be here, but she’s had to have a minor operation.
“She is not very well, she is having an operation, a mini one, but she is recovering well though.

“She was invited but the appointment was in BAFTA week. You can’t turn down an NHS operation down, can you?
“But she is doing well. She’s actually still in hospital so she’ll be watching from there from her hospital bed.”
It comes as fans of the show have also discovered a ‘secret member’ of the Malone family, who appear alongside Jenny and Lee in the series.
Viewers of the Channel 4 programme only realised that Tom Sr and Julie have a son, called Lee, who doesn’t appear in the programme after Julie took to Instagram and revealed they were preparing for his wedding.
In a video on their social media page, Malone said: “Right, I’m back on it this morning I had a couple of weeks off, had gastroenteritis which made me quite ill.
“Then I had a week getting ready for Kelly and Damien’s wedding over in Ireland and our own, our eldest son Lee’s wedding which is in a couple of weeks.”
After seeing the footage, one fan commented: “Wow, where have you been hiding @lee_malone. Julie, you look amazing and smiling as always. Love you guys, never fail to make me laugh.”
