Gogglebox’s Stephen Webb has issued an apology over a swimming pool incident.

The TV personality reportedly ‘pulled a woman into the water’ at an exclusive club in Brighton after a prankster friend did the same to him.

Addressing the incident, he told The Sun: “I am very sorry if she felt upset or hurt by my actions. That was never my intention.”

Webb said that he was in ‘good spirits’ at the time and everyone was ‘laughing and joking’ around.

He added: “We’d enjoyed a really good time together and I felt it was all part of the fun.”

The 50-year-old has been on the Channel 4 programme since 2013. Originally, he starred on the show with his former partner, Chris Ashby-Steed.

Last year, Ashby-Steed’s husband, Tony, claimed that Gogglebox bosses had gone ‘behind the TV star’s back’ when he was on the show.

Referencing Paige DeVille, who also left the programme, he tweeted: “Our hearts go out to you @Paige_deville. The studio stood by and watched Stephen bully my husband Chris off the show and did nothing to stop him. They helped him get his mum on the show behind Chris’s back without even telling him…

“@Paige_deville, they don’t seem to give a damn about the people below the superficial, it’s all about ratings and awards, not people.

“Even when it came out that being forced off the show made Chris suicidal, they didn’t contact him once!”

He then alleged Ashby-Steed had been left ‘haunted’ by his experience. However, he went on to add that he is now ‘feeling better’.

In concluding the post, Tony said: “He has a tough constitution – years of bullying as a kid made him toughen up. But everyone has their limits. He was robbed of so much by Stephen and treated so badly by the studio that it tipped him over, sadly.”
