Great British Bake Off 2019 is set to begin, after being announced through a trailer that has certainly got fans excited.
Once again we will get to watch 12 new contenders compete for the chance to become Britain’s Great British Baker through a series of difficult challenges, from technical challenges to showstoppers.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much information, but fans will be delighted to know that Paul Hollywood will be back and as hard to impress as ever. Alongside Paul will be fellow judge Prue Leith and presenters, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.
As the series is usually filmed in white tents in early spring and summer, it means that the GBBO 2019 winner is probably already out there somewhere – let’s just hope Prue doesn’t make the mistake of letting slip who won again.
Rahul Mandal was last year’s winner, after making delicious doughnuts and an amazing “edible landscape”. It was a close final, with both Kim-Joy and Ruby both pulling out all the stops.
Applications for the highly-anticipated show closed on January 6, after they opened in October during the 2018 semi-finals.
When applying for the show, the website said: “The Great British Bake Off kneads you. We’re looking for a gourmet selection of amateur bakers to enter the tent for the tenth series of The Great British Bake Off.
“If you or someone you know can prove to perfection and rise to the occasion, then why not apply now. GOOD LUCK!”
At this moment in time, there is currently no official date for the new series. However, if it follows the usual pattern then the series should begin towards the end of August and should run approximately 10 weeks.
