An extra from the Harry Potter movie franchise has confirmed that a major star from the film spat in her face during a now-cut scene.

The world of Harry Potter has always been filled with magic, adventure, and unforgettable moments.

However, for one background actor, her experience on set involved a scene that was far from enchanting.

In a recent TikTok, a former extra who appeared in one of the beloved films revealed that a scene, that ultimately didn’t make the final cut, featured an unpleasant encounter with one of the franchise’s stars.

Samantha Clinch often posts about her BTS Harry Potter experiences on social media – but the story of an actor spitting in her face is the one that’s gone viral.

People have had a lot to say about the incident, with one commenter penning: “Bet you he gave Gryffindor 10 points after that!”

“I’d have loved that! Icon,” a second jokes.

“It’s because she put her name in the Goblet of Fire,” laughs a third.

Clinch, who describes herself as a former child star, Hogwarts Alumni, and storyteller, shared some behind-the-scenes secrets from the renowned Harry Potter franchise on TikTok.

Initially cast as an extra, Clinch eventually played the role of Eloise Midgen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).

Clinch shared a story on TikTok about one of her ‘career highlights,’ which involved filming a scene with one of the biggest stars of the franchise for The Goblet of Fire.

She recalled how, at the age of 13, she was an extra in a scene where the star ‘spat in [her] face.’

Clinch explained that the scene involved an announcement of the arrival of the dementors.

She recounted: “In Goblet of Fire, there’s a moment where they need to announce that the dementors are coming, and obviously this is absolutely terrifying, terrifying news for everyone involved.

“Anyway, he comes over to the table that I’m at and puts his hand on my shoulder, looks at me directly in the face, and said, ‘The dementors are coming!'”

She described the scene as a ‘career highlight’ despite the unintentional mishap, noting: “Quite literally frothing at the mouth […] there was spit everywhere […] I might have got it in my eye.

“Dumbledore spat in my eyes,” she said.

While this scene did not make it into the final cut of the film, Clinch believes it would have been ‘great viewing.’

Despite the mishap, she considers the moment a ‘career highlight.’

Yep, the spitter was none other than Michael Gambon, the esteemed actor known for portraying Professor Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts.

Sadly, Gambon passed away at 82 years old last year.

A statement from the family at the time reads: “Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82. We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.”

A day before the news of Gambon’s passing, Clinch coincidentally shared her story.

While the scene in question may never see the light of day, it remains a unique anecdote in the rich tapestry of Harry Potter lore, and a reminder that even in a world of magic, the realities of film production can be as unpredictable and intense as any spell.
