The Heinz Beanz pizza is back after a nearly 20-year hiatus, leaving many feeling a mix of shock and excitement.

During the 1990s, Heinz Beanz pizzas were, apparently, a scrumptious teatime treat until they were discontinued in 2003.

It’s made up of a crispy base, tomato sauce, baked beans, mozzarella and a sprinkling of cheddar cheese.

Since the product was removed from supermarket food aisles, fans have pined for the return of the British-Italian link-up.

Some had even taken to pouring a tin of beans onto their Margherita in order to get their fix, but it’s simply not the same.

Now, two decades later, the bizarre food fusion is returning to shops, but only for a limited run, in order to celebrate the company’s 150th anniversary.

The frozen pizzas will be sold in Iceland stores after a triumphant return to stock on November 14 and will cost customers just £3.

The Heinz Baked Pizza will also be on offer through Deliveroo, from pizza restaurants including Joe Public (London), Pizza Punks (Glasgow, Newcastle and Belfast) and Proove (Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield).

Fans of the creation will have to be quick, though, as they’ll be pulled once again at the end of November.

And there’s no telling whether it’ll be another 20 years before they’re back.

Sophie Higgins, head of growth platform, New Ventures at Heinz, said: “We are so excited to relaunch our Beanz Pizza. It truly is ICONIC.

“After seeing the excitement build this year following the launch of our Beanz Burgerz, Beanz Bowls and Beanz Filled Hash Browns, bringing back our Beanz Pizza felt like the perfect follow-up.

“We know there are some true fans of our frozen Beanz Pizzas out there and – after a 20-year hiatus from supermarkets – we hope they’re as happy today as we are to hear this absolute classic is available again in stores.

“This is our fourth foray into the freezer aisles for Heinz Beanz over the past year, following the launch of our first frozen ready meals range – Beanz Burgerz, Beanz Bowlz, and Beanz Hash Browns.

“But we don’t plan on stopping there. Make sure to watch this space for even more exciting Beanzy news!”

On Reddit, one person who’d managed to track a Heinz Beanz pizza down in an Iceland store said they didn’t know if the product is ‘a crime or genius’.

Another wrote: “Omg they’re back. They are amazing.

“Cook the f***er properly, add some salt and pepper and maybe a tad of sweet chilli sauce… but if you value the skin on your palate… let it cool for at least ten mins before diving in.

“That thing is hotter than the devil’s bath water.”

A third chimed in, writing: “HOLY C*** IT’S BACK!! Where did you find this?!

“When this was first released in the 90s I ate these all the time then they stopped making them! Beat the pizzas I’d ever eaten at the time!”

Another called the product ‘God level pizza’, while another warned: “Prepare to lose the skin from the roof of your mouth.”

Not everyone is on board, however, as one person said: “Heinz meanz crimez.”
