Hocus Pocus 2 has just been released on Disney+ and is now available for streaming.

The long-awaited sequel to the 1993 classic will see Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy all reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters, along with Doug Jones returning as zombie Billy Butcherson.

The synopsis for Hocus Pocus 2 reads: “Three young women accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.”

Fans on social media have been expressing their excitement for Hocus Pocus 2.

One person on Twitter posted: “Oh my god, I didn’t even think about the Sanderson sisters interacting with modern technology like phones. This is gonna be HILARIOUS. I hope this opens up the possibility of a third one with the original cast and new cast coming back.”

“OMG Hocus Pocus 2 is promising to be sooooo good and hilarious,” expressed a second fan.

Another viewer said: “This is going to be a killer. The Sanderson witches learning more about the modern world, including beauty treatments. So looking forward to watching Hocus Pocus 2.”

Someone else commented: “Wow. This looks better than I could have ever imagined. I love how easily they slipped back into those characters. So excited.”

Even though the original Hocus Pocus was deemed a cult classic, many fans were surprised to find out that the film was a box-office flop when it originally came out in 1993.

Despite it being a Halloween movie, it was released in July and up against Jurrasic Park at the box office.

Even the cast of the film has acknowledged that the film came out at the wrong time of the year.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Najimy, (Mary Sanderson), said: “It came out in summer, but I think it should’ve come out in the fall. It sort of did okay but went away.

“What we think happened was, people weren’t sure if they could bring their kids or not, and wondered if it was scary or not.

“When it came on television, it became a runaway train. Parents showed it to their kids and those parents showed it to theirs. It was a surprise to us all.”

In the same interview, the three stars of Hocus Pocus revealed that only Midler, (Winifred Sanderson), had discussions about a sequel.

Jessica Parker, (Sarah Sanderson) added: “I didn’t push for it.  can’t confess to being involved in putting it together. The minute I heard it was real, I said yes right away. It was incredibly easy.

“The hard part was scheduling: Covid complicated things, but I can’t tell you how fast I said yes.”

With Halloween around the corner, this could be the perfect film to get you in the spirit.
