House of the Dragon fans are saying the ‘Green Wedding’ is the best episode so far.

The fifth part of the Game of Thrones spinoff dropped on September 18 and in typical fashion, it involved a ton of bloodshed. So if you haven’t watched, be prepared for a ton of spoilers.

‘We Light the Way’ follows Rhaenyra Targaryen (played by Milly Alcock) and Ser Laenor Velaryon (Theo Nate) agreeing to be married while having an open relationship with their lovers, Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) and Joffrey Lonmouth (Solly McLeod).

To celebrate the news, King Vicerys (Paddy Considine) organises some prenuptial festivities and at this point, Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) arrives to cause drama.

Amid the celebrations, Criston flips out and gruesomely kills Laenor’s lover Joffrey.

Although you’d expect this to put a halt to the nuptial plans, Rhaenyra and Laenor declare ‘I do’ straight after the chaos.

After watching this explosive episode, many took to Twitter and said that out of all the episodes so far, this was the ‘best’.

“The green wedding. Best episode so far,” one fan tweeted.

Another added: “I think episode 5 is my favourite House of the Dragon episode so far – the costumes at the wedding feast were so vibrant and gorgeous, and the political intrigue continues to increase!”

“Masterpiece of an episode,” a third wrote.

While another user penned: “Man that episode was tense.”

Despite it being my day off today, I still got up early to watch House of the Dragon. Every week this show tops itself, and it did it again this week. Weddings are never uneventful in Westeros #HouseOfTheDragon,” a fifth tweeted

Previously, Game of Thrones has shown viewers the ‘Red Wedding’ and the ‘Purple Wedding’.

The ‘Red Wedding’, in Season 3, Episode 9, titled ‘The Rains of Castamere’, follows the nuptials of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey. In this episode, Robb Stark, his wife and his mother are massacred.

More violence follows in the ‘Purple Wedding’ in Episode 2 of Season 4, titled ‘The Lion and the Rose’. It focuses on the royal nuptials of Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell. It ends with Joffrey dying after drinking poisoned wine at the wedding.
