Idris Elba says Meghan Markle has the ‘right to speak the truth’ after her voice was ‘taken away’.
The Luther actor has defended his friend, the Duchess of Sussex, after her bombshell interview on CBS.
In a discussion with ET, the star was asked: “We have seen in real life your friend Meghan Markle telling her story of the black experience – what do you think about her courage, just stepping out and saying ‘I need to speak my truth’?”

The 48-year-old replied: “I will say that everyone has to have their opportunity to speak up about what they feel.
“You cannot take someone’s voice away, that’s what we have to communicate.”
During the tell-all, which aired earlier this month, Meghan said she was left feeling suicidal when working as a Senior Royal.
The 39-year-old confessed: “But I knew that if I didn’t say that [to Harry], I would do it [hurt myself]. I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.
“That was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.”
However, the claim has been put into question, most recently by celebrity biographer Andrew Morton.
On the Lorraine show, he said: “Yes that was a very sad admission but it left far more questions than answers.
“It left me baffled that assertion.”
