A clip that shows an influencer couple explaining how they cancelled an adoption after learning they wouldn’t be allowed to post the child on social media has resurfaced online.
YouTubers Nikki Phillippi and Dan Phillippi originally shared the video in 2018. However, it’s now doing the rounds again as the couple recently made headlines for putting their family dog down after it bit their son.
In the clip, Nikki told the camera: “After you pick up your child, they are your child but you are not allowed to talk about them or share any images, photos, videos, anything about them online for a year.
Watch the moment a woman met the daughter she gave up for adoption 20 years ago…
“So we were like going round the houses like trying to figure out how this could work like ‘hashtag baby blur face’.
“What are we gonna do? Dan’s like, ‘maybe we could deal with that for a year?’
“We’re like alright, let’s pray about it, let’s sleep on it and then let’s see how we feel in the morning.”
Dan continued: “It’s not just a rule that Thailand has like, ‘oh you can’t share anything or talk about your kid for a year’. It’s that the adoption is not finalised until a year later.
“So you know, the kid’s gonna be living in our house for a year and it’s not about all time, not our kid so yeah, we’re not okay with that either.”
The couple then withdrew themselves from the adoption application process.
Instead, they considered adopting a baby from Korea. But this then came to a halt when the influencers also found that the agency within the country wouldn’t easily approve the adoption due to their heavy social media presence.
