Jamie Lee Curtis broke down in tears after reading messages from Halloween fans.
Halloween is an American horror franchise made up of 13 movies, as well as novels, comic books, a video game, and more.
It became incredibly popular due to its infamous villain, Michael Myers.
The antagonist is characterized as pure evil – he kills using a chef’s knife, and wears a mask to hide his identity, along with coveralls.
Curtis has played the iconic character of Laurie Strode in several Halloween movies.
Her portrayal of Strode is considered the quintessential example of a ‘final girl,’ a female protagonist who is the only survivor of a film’s monster or killer.
Fans fell in love with her and the character through each performance that the actress delivered as Strode.
The actress, who shot to fame in the franchise, has since starred in over 54 films and become a staple star in Hollywood.
In an essay for People, Curtis reflected on her time playing Strode, noting the character taught her ‘resilience,’ ‘loyalty,’ ‘perseverance’ and ‘courage.’
She penned: “I have tried over the years to inculcate those aspects of Laurie’s character into my own, to carry that mantle and represent survivors of all types of unimaginable horror and trauma, pain and suffering, who stand up to tyranny and oppression – real and imagined.”
Curtis recently returned to the role when director David Gordon Green brought back the horror classic with Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021), and Halloween Ends (2022).
As Halloween Ends is said to be the last in the franchise, it marked the final time Curtis returned to the iconic character.
As it came to an end, it was a hard time for both fans and Curtis.
In a video shared to the Halloween Ends Instagram page, Curtis sat and listened to wholesome messages from fans.
One person said: “The greatest final girl in the world.”
Another added: “Such an iconic, formative scream queen.”
“You mean a lot to myself and horror fans and film fans across the world,” a third told the actress.
After listening to the heartfelt words, Curtis was brought to tears as she said: “Thank you guys.
“Turn this f***ing off, I can’t… It’s obviously hard, all of it is hard saying goodbye and nobody wants to say that. So, I won’t say that.”
She continued: “I am just going to say thank you.
“It’s a legacy that I’m very, very proud is attached to me and one that I treat with a lot of respect. So, Happy Halloween everybody, God bless you all. Thank you for everything.”
