Jason Manford, who has previously been dubbed a ‘bigot’ for a joke he made during his Apollo special, has slammed Starstruck viewers for branding his new show a ‘rip off’.
After watching the ITV programme, some people took to Twitter and insisted it was just a ‘s*** version’ of the 90’s talent show, Stars In Their Eyes.
One fumed: “Starstruck is essentially Stars In Their Eyes. Bit of a rip-off. #Starstruck”

“A s*** version of Stars In Their Eyes with Olly Murs,” added another.
Before the show even aired, the comedian had a response prepared for its haters, as he tweeted: “Enjoy Starstruck. It’s a great show.
“If you think we sat the whole series and not one of [us] mentioned the similarity to Stars In Their Eyes, you’re thick mate!
“Of course it is, so feel free to not tell me, but do try to guess who the contestants are gonna be and best soundalike.”

Later on, he added: “Thanks for all your lovely comments from tonight’s #MaskedSingerUK and #Starstruck.
“Always love making these shows, absolutely hate them going out, but you have all been really lovely and I appreciate it. Take care.”
The new singing series, which is hosted by singer Olly Murs, sees members of the public transform into some of the biggest stars in the world.
There are four teams of three who battle to win the judges’ and virtual audience’s vote, and the series winners get a cash prize of £50,000.
Sheridan Smith, Adam Lambert and Beverly Knight joined Manford on the judging panel in its most recent episode.
