Jennifer Lopez’s decision to change her name after marrying Ben Affleck has been blasted by TV star Katherine Ryan.

The ‘Get Right’ singer confirmed the pair had tied the knot in Las Vegas in a newsletter published on her website, which she signed off ‘Jen Affleck’.

Ryan took to Twitter moments later and said the move made ‘zero sense’.

She wrote: “Changing your name makes very little sense to me, but makes ZERO SENSE AT ALL when your name is Jennifer Lopez and you are J-Lo, Jenny from the Block, and you rode the six [train] day and night to grow that name but ok, Jen Affleck…”

Some people agreed with her, with one writing: “Especially weird since his first wife’s name is also Jennifer.”

However, others said it was ‘bad form’ of her to comment on another woman’s personal choice.

One wrote: “Bad form!! Some women want to change their name when they marry… being made to feel bad because they’ve made that choice makes no sense! Support your fellow female and her right to make independent choices.”

Another added: “Well said, I was thinking that.  It’s her choice. It makes 100% sense to J-Lo and that’s all that matters. Plus professionally she’s still J-Lo.”

The couple, who rekindled their romance earlier this year, were wed at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

Gushing about the ceremony, Lopez said: ”Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world.

“Behind us, two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, a young couple who made the three-hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday—all of us wanting the same thing— for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.”
