Jeremy Clarkson has slammed the Conservative candidates who want to replace Boris Johnson as Prime Minister.

In his latest column for The Sunday Times, The Grand Tour presenter has branded the MPs running for leader of the country as ‘shoulder-saggingly boring.’

He said: “I don’t know who any of the candidates are or what any of them think. It’s like trying to choose your favourite milk bottle.

“So how can we have ended up having to choose a leader from a shortlist made up entirely of perma-smiley weirdos?”

He added that ‘none of the candidates’ was up to scratch to become Prime Minister, and they must be ‘off your rocker’ to accept the job.

“Unless we can think of someone else to use as a receptacle for our anger and our disgust and our rage, we are never again going to be represented by anyone who’s even remotely normal,” he added.

It comes after the five MPs took part in a second televised debate on Sunday night.

Angry viewers took to Twitter to blast the participants after the discussion turned into a series of professional insults being thrown at one another.

While Rishi Sunak still remains the bookies’ favourite to land the job, Penny Mordaunt has climbed up to second.

The next televised debate is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, July 18, but by the time this happens, there will only be four candidates remaining as MPs will on Monday, July 17, on who should be withdrawn from the race to become Prime Minister.

However, both Sunak and Liz Truss have declared that they will not be attending due to their own reasoning.
