Jeremy Clarkson has caused outrage on social media with a tweet about climate change.

With the UK and parts of Europe being hit with a heatwave that is seeing temperatures rise past 40 degrees and wildfires breaking out, many people are concerned about the state of the planet. However, the Clarkson’s Farm presenter doesn’t seem to care.

He penned: “I’ve spent my life working in extreme heat and we survived by having a beer under a tree. Climate change is real. Drink more beer.”

His laidback approach to the heat has caused anger in the comment section, with one user tweeting: “You haven’t ‘worked; in extreme heat. You think you’re working because you’re being paid but it isn’t really what I’d call work.”

They added: “Try putting a roof down between two buildings with the sun beating down. That’s real work.”

Another commented: “A bit suspicious that the person who would have had a massive negative impact on the environment if climate change is real, chooses not to believe in climate change.”

A third tweeted: “Yeah let’s laugh about climate change.”

Unfazed by the backlash, Clarkson fired back, writing: “We should laugh about anything we want. Now go and sit under a tree and have a cold beer.”

Despite some people reacting to his post negatively, others have agreed with his sentiment and claimed the hot weather should be embraced.

One wrote: “All those moaning about the heat in the UK are the very same people that pay £££ to go abroad on holiday to enjoy nice weather so go figure that one.

“This heat is called summer time let’s embrace it and enjoy it like Jeremy Clarkson said, with a cold beer.”
