Jimmy Carr’s 9/11 joke that features in a new Netflix series is causing controversy.

The Best Of Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival dropped this week and features the likes of Jon Stewart and Sam Morrill.

During Carr’s appearance, he reportedly compares the 2001 terror attack to the moment singer Zayn Malik left pop group One Direction.

“Now you might think this is silly, but it’s absolutely true. When Zayn left One Direction, for me, it was like 9/11 — I didn’t care about that either,” he said.

He added: “I was actually supposed to be on one of the planes on 9/11, but the more interesting story is how I met Osama.”

However, some fans have jumped to his defence.

“So Jimmy Carr is in bother for another offensive joke,” wrote one person. “Folk need to get a grip, he’s a comedian.”

Another wrote: “So, you don’t watch Jimmy Carr if you want to listen to Woke jokes. Only a Moron would continue to watch something they are offended by. How about they learn where the OFF button is.”

Another added: “If you are ever offended by a joke or a comedian just be offended, that’s it, it’s fine, they said something, you found it offensive. The End. #jimmycarr.”

It’s not the first time Carr has found himself in hot water.

Earlier this year, he was slammed for making a Holocaust joke during a stand-up set.

He said: “When people talk about the Holocaust they talk about the tragedy and horror of 6 million Jewish lives being lost to the Nazi war machine. But they never mention the thousands of Gypsies that were killed by the Nazis.

“No one ever wants to talk about that, because no one ever wants to talk about the positives.”
