JK Rowling has made a vow to Macy Gray following the musician’s ‘transphobic’ comment on Piers Morgan’s show, Uncensored.
It all started when the ‘I Try’ singer appeared on the TV presenter’s programme on July 4 and said transitioning and using she/her pronouns ‘doesn’t make you a woman’.
In response, Rowling took to Twitter on July 5 and wrote: “Today feels like a good day to ensure I’ve bought @macygrayslife’s entire back catalogue.”

The post has since garnered more than 1,300 retweets and hundreds have taken to the comments.
Outraged, one responded: “Trans people are getting assaulted because of this rhetoric. What do anti-trans people actually want trans people to do? Not exist? You lot are making it incredibly hard for them to go about normal life, not that it’s been easy for them in the past either.”
Another added: “Everything going on in the world right now and Macy Gray decides to use her platform to instead call out people who are already oppressed and attempt to invalidate them.”
However, another defended the writer, tweeting: “The last time I checked people were allowed to express an opinion. Especially if it is based on their own life experiences. I guess some people struggle with this concept. It’s fine not to agree, but to come up with some of these responses is ridiculous.”

When chatting to Morgan about her controversial view, Gray said: “I will say this and everyone’s gonna hate me, but as a woman, just because you go change your [body] parts, doesn’t make you a woman, sorry.”
Morgan responded: “Right, you feel that?”
Replying, she stated: “I know that for a fact.”
