Johnny Depp holds back tears as he receives a standing ovation for his new movie.
The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star, 59, has starred in a number of blockbuster films such as Edward Scissorhands and Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
But due to his high-profile defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, he’s been dropped from a number of projects and brands.
This includes the Fantastic Beast franchise and Pirates of the Caribbean – as well as his partnership with car manufacturer Audi.

However, Depp has landed his first leading role in three years.
The 59-year-old is set to star in an independent French movie called Jeanne du Barry – a biographical drama about Madame du Barry (Maïwenn – who also directs the film) as she falls in love with King Louis XV (Depp).
The Alice in Wonderland actor made his return to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival – where the movie was screened – and he was welcomed with a thunderous ovation.

According to Variety, he was greeted by thousands of fans screaming his name and chanting: “Johnny, Johnny, we support you.”
Reportedly, one young woman was even left in tears as she tried to get Depp’s attention.
Jeanne du Barry debuted to audiences at the festival and was met with acclaim – as it received a seven-minute standing ovation from viewers, as per Variety.

The What’s Eating Gilbert Grape actor held back tears as the crowd in the South of France applauded him for his performance as King Louis XV.
Depp waved to the audience on the balcony and was visibly taken aback by the response.
Fans of the actor have posted on social media to congratulate Depp on his comeback.
“He deserves this!!” writes one person.
Another person comments: “I’m so happy for him, he needed this and he deserves it. You really can’t keep a good man down for long.”
A third adds: “Well deserved he’s a lovely guy so happy for him finally getting his life back.”
Someone else says: “Give this guy his mega pint! Well deserved, Johnny, well deserved!!”
“Wonderful… can’t wait to see the movie!” comments a fifth.

While he is enjoying a bit of a comeback, Heard has reportedly quit Hollywood and moved to Spain under a new identity.
The Aquaman actress has apparently been spotted on the Spanish island of Palma de Mallorca.
Heard is believed to be focusing on being a mother as she raises her daughter, Oonagh Paige.
She allegedly goes under the alias Martha Jane Canary, however, this has not been confirmed.
