Johnny Depp has responded to rumours he will return to his Captain Jack Sparrow role for Pirates of the Caribbean 6

A representative of the 58-year-old has reportedly told E! News that the reported $300million deal has been ‘made up’.

Supposedly, the rumours began when Poptonic reported that a source claimed that the offer was linked to a role that would ‘involve Disney+’.

The insider supposedly said: “The deal is reportedly for Johnny Depp to return as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and a spin-off Disney+ series about the early life of the Captain of the Black Pearl.”

They also claimed it was ‘worth $301million’ and would involve ‘a sizeable contribution to charity,’ before adding: “What I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character.”

Before this, Depp himself denied that he would ever reprise the role when testifying during his high-profile defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

The revelation came after Heard’s lawyer, Ben Rotterborn, said to him: “The fact is, Mr Depp, if Disney came to you with $300million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?”

Replying to him, the actor said: “That is true, Mr Rottenborn.”

After this, Depp also spoke about what it was that he liked about the character, saying he could ‘get away with stuff’ because of the fact that ‘he was a cartoon’.

He explained: “Captain Jack Sparrow can do things that I could never do.

“He could say things that I could never say. So it was for me, a way to stretch the parameters of a character and take a risk in doing that.”
