Johnny Depp’s agent has detailed the ‘huge loss’ the actor apparently suffered over Amber Heard’s allegations about him.

Jack Whigham has claimed the 58-year-old missed out on a $22.5million deal to continue working on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Speaking about the op-ed Heard penned in The Washington Post, which the case centres around, he said: “It was a first-person account, extremely impactful.”

Whigham went on to describe the alleged impact as ‘catastrophic,’ adding: “After the op-ed, it was impossible to get him a studio film, which is what we normally would have been focused on in that time period.”

Following this, the agent claimed that he had ‘closed a deal’ for Depp to star in the next instalment of the Disney film franchise, which supposedly included a massive fee.

However, Whigham argued that in 2019, it ‘became clear [producers at Disney] were going in a different direction’ that wouldn’t include the actor.

There is no written proof that the contract was agreed on, and when on the stand, Whigham told jurors this was because it was a ‘verbal agreement’.

Under cross-examination from Heard’s lawyers, he claimed: “It would be fair to say I have never seen a document… I have not seen ’22million’ written down on a page, you’re correct about that.”

It comes as the actor has also claimed he ‘was a victim of domestic abuse‘ in his closing testimony of the case.

He made the remarks when replying to a final question from his attorney, Camille Vasquez.

Addressing the star, she said: “What did you say in response when Ms Heard said, ‘Tell the world Johnny, tell them I Johnny Depp, a man, am a victim too of domestic violence?’”

He responded: “I said yes, I am.”
