Katy Perry is being called out for her song ‘Dark Horse’ over its lyrics about notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Perry, 38, release the single in 2013 as a part of her fourth studio album, ‘Prism’.
For the track, the ‘Hot N Cold’ singer collaborated with rapper Juicy J.
‘Dark Horse’ was inspired by Perry’s love of the 1996 fantasy horror movie The Craft, reports udiscovermusic.com.
Following the release of the Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the single is facing a ton of backlash for its ‘disrespectful’ reference to Dahmer.

The specific lyric receiving criticism, which is sung by Juicy J, says: “She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer (whoa!).”
Referencing the song on Twitter, one user said: “It still upsets me when I hear the line in the song ‘Dark Horse’: ‘She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer’, I always make my daughter turn the station.
“It’s so disrespectful to the victims’ families. I hope people remember them while watching Netflix. Sorry for their losses.”
Another added: “Knowing the depths of what Jeffrey Dahmer did… Juicy J [is] wrong for what he said in that Katy Perry song.”
“Since Jeffrey Dahmer is trending right now, can talk about how weird Juicy J’s line in Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’ is…” a third wrote.

While a fourth said: “Juicy J said that not Katy but I always thought what a horrible thing to say.”
At the time of writing, neither Perry nor Juicy J have addressed the criticism surrounding the lyrics.
However, the pair aren’t the only singers to have referenced Jeffrey Dahmer in a song.
Over the years, many musicians have mentioned the killer, including Eminem, Kesha, Marilyn Manson and Nicki Minaj.

Kesha’s 2010 song Cannibal features the lyrics: “Your little heart goes pitter-patter, I want your liver on a platter.
“Be too sweet and you’ll be a goner, yeah, I’ll pull a Jeffrey Dahmer.
“I eat boys up, breakfast and lunch, then when I’m thirsty, I drink their blood.
“Carnivore, animal, I am a cannibal. I eat boys up, you better run.”
Fans were quick to call out the singer over the lyrics after watching the Netflix series.

One Twitter user wrote: “I just learned who Jeffrey Dahmer is and I knew his name was familiar because Kesha put his name in her lyrics for her song ‘Cannibal’.
“I need to delete that song now. Why the heck do we give fandom to these sickos?!”
Jeffrey Dahmer’s horrific crimes have been brought back to media attention following Netflix’s drama series, which stars American Horror Story star, Evan Peters.
It follows the infamous killer who was convicted of murdering 17 men and boys throughout a killing spree that took place between 1978 and 1991.
The Netflix synopsis reads: “Across more than a decade, 17 teen boys and young men were murdered by convicted killer Jeffrey Dahmer. How did he evade arrest for so long?”
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’s 10 episodes are now available to watch now on Netflix.
