Keira Knightley says that every woman on the planet has been harassed in some way or another.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, the British actress opened up about her concerns over sexual harassment towards women and says it’s become ‘depressing’ to hear of it happening so often.

The 36-year-old said: “Yes! I mean, everybody has [been harassed]. Literally, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been in some way, whether it’s being flashed at, or groped, or some guy saying they’re going to slit your throat, or punching you in the face, or whatever it is, everybody has.

“It was when women started listing all the precautions they take when they walk home to make sure they’re safe, and I thought, ‘I do every single one of them, and I don’t even think about it’.

“It’s f***ing depressing.”

Recently, Knightley also opened up about how shooting intimate scenes in movies makes her feel uncomfortable.

Chatting with Lulu Wang and Diane Solway on the Chanel Connects podcast, she said: “If I was making a story that was about that journey of motherhood and body acceptance, I feel like, I’m sorry, but that would have to be with a female filmmaker.

“I don’t have an absolute ban, but I kind of do with men.”

Not long ago, it was reported that the mum-of-two was forced to pull out of the period drama The Essex Serpert, as she couldn’t find childcare support while filming.

Knightley shares Edie, born in May 2015, and Delilah, born in September 2019 with her husband, James Righton.
