Kelly Rowland has blasted Sesame Park’s ‘ridiculous’ apology in response to a viral video.

The Destiny’s Child singer took to social media after watching footage of a theme park staff member appearing to ‘ignore’ two Black children at the Philadelphia-based theme park and said she’d have ‘burned the place down’ if it had been her kids in the situation.

Discussing her reaction with Entertainment Tonight, Rowland said: “I’m still upset. I was livid.

“Did you see that ridiculous apology that they had? When I saw this, it was an extension of what I grew up learning and loving about Sesame Street and Sesame Place, but I don’t know what place this is that I saw.

“It made two beautiful little girls feel like they were just not there.”

The apology Rowland refers to read: “Sesame Workshop is aware of the recent incident at Sesame Place Philadelphia, which we take very seriously. What these children experienced is unacceptable.

“We have been in contact with Sesame Place, our licensed park partner, and they have assured us that they will conduct bias training and a thorough review of the ways in which they engage with families and guests.

“As a global non-profit educational organisation with a mission to help children grow smarter, stronger and kinder, Sesame Workshop has always stood for respect, inclusion and belonging and is committed to providing the highest quality engaging experiences for all children and families. We hold our partners to the same high standards.

“We will continue working with our long-term partner Sesame Place to ensure that appropriate actions are taken and that incidents like this do not happen in the future.”

White Author Anne Tyler Defends Writing From Black Person’s Viewpoint

The footage went viral when mum Leslie Mac took to Twitter on July 17 and discussed her daughter’s birthday celebrations.

She tweeted: “#BabyPaige and her cute lil friends went to @SesamePlace this weekend to celebrate Paige’s 4th birthday and this is how #SesamePlace treated these beautiful Black children. I’m HOT.”

Since being shared, it’s accumulated more than 11,000 retweets and 54,000 likes.

Commenting on the video, one person penned: “They looked so upset. What the f***.”

“This is incredibly sad to see,” another added.

A third wrote: “Hands would have to be thrown because no you absolutely DID NOT just deny these beautiful babies while reaching over them and giving an older white woman a high five?! And the babies were clearly upset?! Nah I’m pissed the f*** off.”
