Kendall Jenner, who has been dubbed ‘tone deaf’ in the past, is facing accusations of ‘ripping off’ a tequila brand.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashian star, who is behind 818 tequila, has allegedly copied the Austin-based brand 512, which is made at the same Mexican distillery.

Earlier this week, the rival company took to social media and pointed out that Jenner’s liqueur shares many similarities to its own drink. However, the top model is charging almost double the price.

Alongside a photo of the two drinks side-by-side, the brand wrote: “You may have seen that @kendalljenner released a ‘new’ tequila today.

“Note the similarities, including the colour, the name and it is made at the same distillery in Tequila Mexico as ours.

“Their batches are being distilled twice. Ours three times. Yet she is charging twice as much per bottle. And here we are getting messages like the one in this post image. Doesn’t seem very cool.

“What do you think?”

According to the Daily Mail, Tequila 512 is priced at $26.99, while Jenner’s beverage costs $44.99.

Despite the post, Tequila 512’s CEO, Nick Matzorkis, has insisted that he’s not accusing Jenner of intentionally copying his brand. Instead, he just wanted the steep price difference to be addressed.

He reportedly told the news channel KXAN: “To be clear, the post does not accuse them of ‘stealing our idea,’ but does point out obvious undeniable similarities that in their entirety makes a worthy point on the face of it.”

But this isn’t the first time that Jenner has come under hot water over her tequila brand.

Over a week ago, the 25-year-old was dubbed a ‘coloniser’ for the 818 ad campaign, as it was set on an agave farm in Jalisco, Mexico, and featured native farmers.

On social media, one wrote: “That Kendall Jenner tequila commercial in Mexico is giving nothing but coloniser vibes. It’s disgusting.”

Another added: “Not Kendall Jenner acting like she’s from the rancho just because she made her own tequila.”
