Kendall Jenner is trending on Twitter for all of the wrong reasons after dropping her 818 Tequila ad campaign.

The video, which is set on an agave farm in Jalisco, Mexico, and features native farmers, has led to people accusing the reality TV star of ‘hijacking Mexican culture’ and of being a ‘coloniser’.

One person tweeted: “That Kendall Jenner tequila commercial in México is giving nothing but coloniser vibes. It’s disgusting.”

Another added: “Not Kendall Jenner acting like she’s from the rancho just because she made her own tequila.”

It’s not the first time Jenner has found herself in hot water over a commercial.

Back in 2018, the 25-year-old caused outrage when she appeared in a controversial Pepsi advert.

She was accused of undermining the Black Lives Matter movement after she ’stopped racism’ by handing a can of the soft drink over to a police officer in the middle of a protest.

The backlash was so intense that Pepsi was forced to pull it from TV.

Jenner then issued a public apology on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

“I just feel really, really bad,” the model said at the time. “I feel really bad that anyone was ever offended. I feel really bad that this was taken such a wrong way and I genuinely feel like [rubbish].”

She added: “I have no idea how I’m gonna bounce back from it.”

However, some people are claiming that she’s still not ‘learned’ from the situation and are convinced the problem is that Jenner will do ‘anything for a buck’.

Summing up their thoughts, one wrote: “Kendall Jenner appropriating Mexican culture to sell tequila – braids, sombrero, riding a horse, drinking with Mexican farmers. Can’t decide what’s more cringe-worthy, this or her Pepsi ad. Oh wait, there was Fyre Festival too.

“Just a clueless anything for a buck, ‘celebrity’.”
