The reality star received a ‘lock of Monroe’s hair’ from Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum in Orlando, Florida, when she went to the headquarters for a fitting.
Documenting the moment, the museum took to Instagram and said: “During @kimkardashian’s Met Gala dress fitting at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! HQ, our team surprised her with a silver box that contained an actual lock of Marilyn’s iconic platinum hair.

“The Ripley’s team also filled her Met Gala dressing room with a trove of Marilyn Monroe and JFK memorabilia to help inspire her look.”
Since being shared on the museum’s official page, it has received over 13,000 likes. However, many Monroe fans have been left angered by the news.
In the comments, one fumed: “I liked Ripley’s till I read this. Why the f*** would you gift her hair?”
“Clone her? Crazy voodoo s***? Channel her? Open your eyes, @ripleysbelieveitornot!” another added.
In agreement, a third said: “That’s really weird… Very strange for y’all to do that.”
Outraged, someone else penned: “You ruined history and decreased the iconic image of a Marilyn Monroe historical moment!”
When appearing on the red carpet in the glamorous gown, the SKIMS owner told Vogue that she almost ‘cried’ when it came to the fitting.
Discussing her weight, she said: “I always thought she [Marilyn] was extremely curvy. I imagined I might be smaller in some places where she was bigger and bigger in places where she was smaller.
“So when it didn’t fit me I wanted to cry because it can’t be altered at all.”
The 41-year-old went on to add that she went on a strict ‘diet’ so she could fit in the dress properly.
Explaining herself, Kardashian commented: “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”
