Kirstie Allsopp has lashed out at dual-income families who inherit elderly relatives’ money after ‘leaving the state to look after them’.
The often controversial Location, Location, Location presenter took a swipe at busy couples, saying: “We can’t both inherit money, and leave the care of our parents to the state.”
She wrote on Twitter: “The fact is Theresa May was right, but she nearly lost an election by saying it.”

She added: “If we both want to work, then someone has to be paid, and paid well, to care for our parents. We can’t both inherit money, and leave the care of our parents to the state.”
According to The Mirror, her opinions had been prompted by a tweet by a paediatrician about the ongoing ‘ambulance crisis’ being caused by the ‘social care backlog’.
No stranger to speaking her mind, Allsopp recently hit the headlines after alleging young people were not sacrificing enough in order to get on the property ladder.
She suggested that young people could afford to buy a home if they cancelled their Netflix subscriptions, daily coffee and gym memberships.

Responding to the backlash after her claim, she said: “Either you think I’m an out-of-touch rich b**** who doesn’t get how hard it is to buy a home in many parts of the UK or you don’t.”
She added that it was ‘down to whether you believe in my empathy, understanding and experience or not’.
Allsopp was again in the media after a bizarre accident led to her swallowing an Apple AirPod.
She said she made the mistake while taking her daily vitamins – but managed to throw it up.
Taking to Twitter to share her mishap, she said: “In other news, I just swallowed an AirPod while downing my vitamins.”
She added: “I don’t recommend it. I managed to chuck it back up without having to go to hospital, but my throat is really quite sore.”
