Kylie Jenner is facing a backlash after asking her followers to donate to her injured ex-makeup artist’s GoFundMe page.

It all started when Samuel Rauda’s family set up the fundraising page after the MUA reportedly suffered from severe brain injuries following a car accident.

Jenner, who has been labelled the youngest ‘self-made billionaire’, donated just $5,000 (£3,600) towards the $60,000 goal – despite many pointing out that she could have easily paid off the full amount herself.

She also took to Instagram and penned, via Sky News: “Everyone take a moment to say a prayer for Sam who got into an accident this past weekend. And swipe up to visit his family’s GoFundMe.”

Many of the 23-year-old followers have taken to social media and blasted the move.

One said: “If your net worth were, say, $100k, it would be like donating 56 cents.”

Another added: “Kylie Jenner bought her *literal baby* a $15k bag… And then when her stylist got into a car accident and needs $60k emergency brain surgery, she STARTED A GoFundMe and only donated $5k.”

Kylie Jenner is disgusting for asking us regular people to donate to her friend’s GoFundMe when she owns Birkins worth more than the GoFundMe’s goal,” a third fumed.

“Sis is a whole BILLIONAIRE.”

Following the criticism, Jenner took to social media and said she wanted to clear up the ‘false narrative’.

The 23-year-old penned: “It’s important to me to clear up this false narrative that I’ve asked fans for money and am not paying for my makeup artist’s medical bills.”

The Kylie Cosmetics owner went on to clarify that Rauda is no longer her makeup artist and that they ‘don’t have a personal relationship anymore’.

She added that despite this, she considers him to be ‘the sweetest’.

Jenner explained that she found out about the appeal through her current MUA and when she clicked on the website, the goal was set at $10,000 (£7,200) at the time.

She said that she shared the fundraiser with her fans in order to ‘gain more awareness if anyone also felt compelled to share or donate’.

Jenner continued: “I don’t know how all of this got so twisted but his family has reached out… and are very appreciative of all the donations, prayers, and love towards Sam.

“Anyone that knows me knows that I do things from the heart and I try to be helpful whenever I can be.

“Let’s all stay positive and keep Sam, his family, and anyone you know who is going through a difficult time in our prayers.”

Jenner isn’t the only celeb to have donated to the cause. American actress Bella Thorne also sent over $5,000, while Sophia Richie and Bebe Rexha gave smaller amounts.

Already, the fundraiser has surpassed its target and has accumulated nearly $100,000.

Rauda’s friend, Amelia Hamlin, originally shared the news of the makeup artist’s incident.

At the time, she said: “An awful accident happened and he flew off a moving vehicle crushing his head into the pavement, suffering from internal bleeding and eight different injuries to his brain.”
