Liam Neeson has made a devastating announcement about his personal life and it’s left fans heartbroken.
The award-winning actor rose to fame by playing Oskar Schindler in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 drama Schindler’s List.
He’s since become a huge action star, with films such as Taken, Wrath of the Titans, and Cold Pursuit.
Recently, Neeson revealed his plans to retire from action movies, but this isn’t the only announcement upsetting fans.
His update is especially surprising as he recently said he’s ‘madly in love’ with actress and model Pamela Anderson.
Neeson went viral after professing his love for the former Baywatch star in an interview with People magazine.
The actor, who worked alongside Anderson on The Naked Gun, told the outlet: “With Pamela, first off, I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with.
“I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you.”
He added: “She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”
Likewise, Anderson had tons of positive things to say about Neeson.
Describing him as ‘the perfect gentleman,’ she commented: “He brings out the best in you… with respect, kindness, and depth of experience.
“It was an absolute honor to work with him.”
After these comments made the headlines, many fans expressed their hope the A-listers would get together. However, it’s since been made clear that their relationship is purely platonic.
Neeson hasn’t publically dated anyone since the tragic death of his wife, actress Natasha Richardson.
Richardson, best known for films such as The Parent Trap and Gothic, died in 2009 after a skiing accident.
Neeson shared two sons with the actress, Micheál and Daniel Jack.
In his interview with People magazine, Neeson revealed that he doesn’t date and is ‘past all that.’
Still, the actor described himself as ‘incredibly lucky,’ adding: “I never, ever forget that. Even on a bad day on a movie set, for example, I always nip myself and say, ‘Come on, come on. You have nothing to complain about.’ And it’s true.”
After learning Neeson is done dating, fans have taken to social media and shared their support for the actor’s decision.
Referencing his late wife, one person wrote: “Nothing wrong with that. He has wonderful memories of his life and love with Natasha.”
“So sad how she passed,” added another. “I hope he is happy.”
A third said: “Liam’s enduring love and loyalty is truly inspiring. Wishing him peace and happiness.”
“It’s a testament to true love and honoring a cherished memory,” somebody else agreed.
