Following the tragic news of Liam Payne’s death at 31, his dad has received even more heartbreaking news.

Payne rose to stardom after his appearance on The X Factor and as part of the popular boy band One Direction alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan.

The tragic news of the singer’s passing came this week, and since then, more tragic details continue to surface.

And now, Payne’s father has received more horrible news.

The circumstances of Liam Payne’s death are still under investigation.

A post-mortem revealed that he died from multiple injuries consistent with falling from a height of 45 feet.

The tragedy occurred at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in the Palermo district, where Payne was staying.

Although the autopsy confirmed the cause of death, authorities have labeled the case as ‘inconclusive’ pending further toxicological results, per MailOnline.

Prosecutors are investigating whether drugs were involved, and forensic examinations of mobile phones, computers, photographs, and security footage from the hotel are underway.

A hotel manager had made an emergency call to local authorities shortly before the incident, stating that a guest was ‘off his head on drugs and destroying everything in his room.’

In a second call, the manager expressed concern that the guest might be in a life-threatening situation, given that his room had a balcony.

The Argentine authorities are continuing to gather witness statements from hotel staff, acquaintances, and medical professionals connected to Liam in the hours leading up to his death.

Investigators are also analyzing items found at the scene, including white powder discovered on a desk in Liam’s hotel room, which is still being tested.

Despite these ongoing efforts, there is no evidence at this stage pointing to third-party involvement.

Prosecutors have suggested that Payne may have fallen from the balcony while in a ‘semi or total unconsciousness’ state, potentially due to a psychotic episode induced by substances.

Liam’s father Geoff Payne, 66, during his meeting with Prosecutor Madrea, expressed his desire for transparency in the investigation, even offering to testify regarding any details of his son’s life that could help the case.

In light of the high-profile nature of Liam’s death, Madrea offered Geoff police protection while in Argentina.

Geoff has also visited the hotel where Liam’s fatal fall occurred.

Meanwhile, fans of the singer have been paying tribute to him.

A vigil was held outside the hotel, and in Manchester, flowers and photos of Payne with his One Direction bandmates were placed at a memorial.

One touching tribute read” “Payno forever 31,” while others formed heart-shaped candles to honor the star’s memory.

But Geoff Payne has been given further heartbreaking news that he faces a 10-day wait before his son’s body can be flown home from Argentina.

Liam’s father traveled to the city to formally identify his son and is now struggling with the devastating task of bringing him home, while local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of his death.

Payne visited the morgue where his son’s body is being held and met with officials from Argentina’s Ministry of Justice.

Prosecutor Andrés Esteban Madrea, who is leading the investigation, informed Geoff that it could take up to 10 days for toxicology and histopathology tests to be completed before Liam’s body can be released.

Despite the painful uncertainty, Geoff has vowed not to return to the UK without his son’s remains.

According to a family friend (via MailOnline): “Geoff has been told it might take ten days for the tests to be completed and for him to take Liam home. He is finding the whole situation really tough. Geoff is totally heartbroken at losing his son.”
