In late 2023, Loffredo shocked followers by announcing that he was pausing his transformation.
He wrote on Instagram that the project had taken enormous love, passion, determination, and strength, but had “lost its meaning” over time.
He said he had not expected the project to attract such global attention and admitted he did not always know how to manage being so widely recognized.
At the time, he said he no longer wanted to remove, add, or alter anything else on his body.
He explained that he planned to finish covering his body in black ink before stopping.
However, recent updates suggest his relationship with body modification remains complicated, with new procedures and new phases of his identity still drawing attention online.
His appearance has affected daily life
Loffredo has always defended his right to transform himself, but he has also admitted the process has had consequences.
He previously said it has become difficult for him to find work because of how people react to his appearance.
He has also spoken about strangers staring, judging him, or becoming frightened when they see him in public.
In past interviews, he said some people scream or run away when they encounter him.
Despite this, Loffredo has insisted that he is still human and that people should speak to him rather than judge him based only on his appearance.

“You can’t judge someone,” he said.
“No one knows what’s inside someone’s head, why they’re doing that.”

The photo that shocked viewers
During the Channel 4 documentary, Loffredo showed Bruel a photograph of himself before the transformation.
In the picture, he looked almost unrecognizable from the person millions now know as Black Alien.
He appeared clean-cut, muscular, and conventionally attractive, wearing a fitted red polo shirt with his arms crossed.
Bruel immediately reacted to the image, saying: “But you were a very good-looking guy.”
Loffredo agreed.
“Very sexy guy,” he replied.
But he explained that although he may have looked good to others, he did not feel that he was in the right body.
He said he had been happy, but not fully himself.
Black Alien says he is still the same person
Despite the dramatic physical changes, Loffredo insists the person inside has not changed.
“But I’m the same person,” he said in the documentary.
“Same heart.”
He added that his previous appearance did not feel like his “real body.”
For Loffredo, the Black Alien transformation is less about becoming someone else and more about revealing who he believes he truly is.
That is why, even when faced with criticism, job difficulties, or shocked reactions from strangers, he continues to defend his choices.
